A need for easy booking
Pelham Hospitality operates three hotels and five restaurants in beautiful Dennis, MA and surrounding communities on Cape Cod. Following the redesign of their family of websites, they needed a way for visitors to easily search hotel availability and book through their hospitality platform, Mews. However, none of the out-of-the-box booking widget solutions met their design and UX requirements.
Pelham also needed to be able to customize the design of their booking widget to maintain brand consistency across each of their three property sites, and to add it wherever needed without the help of a developer.
"There didn’t seem to be any options available to us for integrating Mews into our website, that both looked good and were easy to use." Heather McCarthy
Managing Director at Pelham Hospitality.
A tailored WordPress plugin
After listening carefully to Pelham's design and functionality requirements, we created a lean, responsive, and attractive booking widget solution. Because an easy-to-use back end was paramount, we implemented this as a custom WordPress plugin, including numerous custom fields for control of the design and functionality. This included form settings like maximum number of guests, and design customizations for fonts, colors, and more. By building these controls into the WordPress admin, we were able to use a carbon copy of the plugin code across all three sites, setting the client up for success and maintainability.
Addressing an operational need
With this custom plugin in place, Pelham is now able to offer their guests a seamless, easy-to-use experience for booking, and a no-fuss way to manage the widget on the back end. Through custom design and development, they solved a real business problem that simultaneously stays in line with their brand requirements.
